Breast Implants in Nottingham

The first step in a surgical breast augmentation procedure typically involves making an incision in the breast tissue. Mr Khoda will then create a pocket within the breast tissue for the implant. The implant will be carefully inserted into the pocket, and adjusted until the desired shape and size have been achieved.

After the implant has been placed, Dr Khoda will carefully stitch up the incision and dress it. All of this will be done using the non-touch aseptic technique, which hugely reduces any wound contamination risk.

The duration of the procedure, at our Nottingham-based clinic, can vary depending on the individual case, but generally, it takes 30-60 minutes. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia, but is offered as a day-case to most patients, so it’s likely you won’t need to stay overnight.

You will have a choice of implant shape, brand, and texture, and be encouraged to select according to your aesthetic preferences. We’ll discuss the benefits of Motiva® implants versus the MENTOR®, MemoryGel® and MemoryShape® brands when you visit us for your consultation in Nottingham.

You’ll need to be prepared for your operation in Nottingham, with a week booked off work and someone who can drive you home and stay with you for 24 hours after the procedure. When you get home, we would advise you to avoid using your arms as much as possible, in order to prevent putting any strain on your chest. During your week off, please don’t drive. You also need to sleep on your back for at least a month afterwards, refrain from strenuous activities, and keep your chest out of direct sunlight. Taking a gentle shower daily is encouraged.

The duration of recovery can vary from person to person, depending on a number of factors such as age, overall health, and the extent of the procedure.

When you leave the hospital you will be wearing a surgical supportive bra over your dressings. You’ll need to wear it for 6 weeks, although your implants won’t be fully settled for 3 months. You may experience some swelling, bruising, and discomfort during the first few days after surgery, but these symptoms typically subside within a week or two.

After the first week, you can gradually resume normal activities, but should still avoid any high-impact exercise or activities that could put strain on the chest area for at least a month.

Like all surgeries, breast augmentation requires incisions to be made on the breast tissue. These incisions are typically made in inconspicuous areas such as the creases under the breasts, around the nipples, or in the armpits. The location of the incisions will depend on the type of implant, the size of the implant, and your individual anatomy. However, Mr Khoda will always make incisions in a way that minimises visible scarring. After the surgery, in Nottingham, the scars will be pink and raised for several months before eventually fading into thin white lines that are barely noticeable. With proper care and maintenance, you can expect your scars to fade over time and become virtually invisible.

Breast implants are designed to last for many years, but they are not considered to be lifetime devices. The lifespan of breast implants can vary depending on the type of implants, the surgical techniques used, and the individual patient’s body. It is important to note that there is no set timeline for implant replacement. Self-examination on a regular basis is encouraged to ensure that if your breasts change over time, the implant moves, or something feels not right, you have plenty of time to book a clinical check up with us here in Nottingham.

When it comes to surgery, there is always a level of risk involved. However, Mr. Khoda will utilise his expertise and skill to minimise any risks as much as possible. You will receive guidance on how to maintain your health leading up to the surgery, and the procedure itself has an excellent safety record. After the surgery, you will be provided with detailed instructions for post-operative care.

Potential complications from surgery include infection, bleeding, poorly formed scarring, unevenness in breast shape, discomfort, reduced sensitivity, accumulation of fluids, blood clots, implant shifting or rupturing, capsular contracture, Breast Implant Illness (BII), and Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) However, please be reassured that Mr Khoda is a highly trained, experienced, and respected doctor, who has built his reputation on making his patients’  health, safety, and results, his highest priority.

No, breast augmentation itself does not cause weight gain. The implants themselves contribute relatively little to overall body weight. Any fluctuations noticed are likely temporary and related to the implants’ weight, not a substantial increase in body fat.
