FAQ’s

Breast reduction surgery is performed while you are under general anaesthesia, typically taking around 90 to 120 minutes to finish. The procedure involves the removal of surplus fat, glandular breast tissue, and loose skin from the breasts. Mr Khoda skillfully reshapes the remaining breast tissue to achieve an aesthetically pleasing and firm result. The nipple is also repositioned without affecting its blood supply.

The majority of patients are typically in the hospital for one night, which enables us to closely observe and monitor their initial recovery phase.

Breast reduction surgery eliminates surplus breast tissue, along with fat and lax skin, resulting in smaller and more uplifted breasts. Mr Khoda‘s surgical expertise ensures that you achieve breasts that are not only reduced in size but also more beautifully contoured and perky in appearance.

Mr. Khoda employs a method where the nipple-areolar complex (the brown part of the breast) is preserved on a portion of breast tissue to keep it alive and typically safeguard nipple sensation. In some instances, there may be a risk of reduced blood supply to the nipple, necessitating potential surgical intervention.

At times, individuals with particularly heavy and drooping breasts may require the nipple-areolar complex (NAC) to be repositioned at a distance greater than the norm. In such cases, the NAC is temporarily removed or detached and then reattached as a graft. This graft is carefully dressed for a period of two weeks to enable it to establish a new blood supply from the surrounding breast tissue, resulting in a pinker appearance. Over time, the pigment usually returns to the NAC. However, in certain patients, complete pigment restoration may not occur, potentially necessitating micropigmentation.

The majority of patients typically need to take about 3 weeks off from work to allow for a smooth recovery process. Engaging in strenuous activities, heavy lifting, and intensive exercise is advisable to avoid for a period of 6 weeks, although less demanding forms of physical activity can be resumed after 4 weeks. It’s important to refrain from driving until you are confident in your ability to perform an emergency stop safely. Additionally, wearing a post-surgery bra for a duration of 3 months is recommended to support the healing process.

In the event that you are overweight or have plans for pregnancy, Mr Khoda may advise postponing your surgical breast reduction. If you have notable health concerns or are a frequent smoker, Mr Khoda will explore and discuss your available options during the consultation.

While all surgical procedures carry potential risks, Mr Khoda takes a cautious and consistent approach to minimise these risks. He employs a non-touch technique, ensuring that no part of the wound, substances, or surfaces that will come into contact with the wound, such as the inner surface of dressings, makes skin contact. Common complications associated with surgery include areolar scar stretching, nipple necrosis, asymmetry, no guarantee of a specific cup size, bleeding, hematoma formation, infection, numbness, alterations in nipple sensation, and the potential need for additional surgical procedures. It’s important to be aware that surgery also entails a risk of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.

Breast reduction surgery can potentially affect breastfeeding, as it involves the removal of breast tissue and the repositioning of the nipples, which may impact milk ducts and nerves. Some women may experience a reduced ability to produce milk, while others may be able to breastfeed without significant issues. Discuss your concerns with Mr Khoda, who can employ techniques aimed at preserving breastfeeding capability. Although it may be advised to postpone your plans for surgery.
