Minimise recovery time and expense with Dr Ben Khoda

Treatment Combinations

Treatment overview

Many patients come to us with more than one concern, or with related concerns. Treatment combinations are a great way to limit the inconvenience and expense of surgery.

However desirable the results of plastic surgery may be, surgery is traumatic for the body and inevitably leads to a period of downtime while the patient recovers. Having two procedures at once does lengthen the duration of surgery, but it removes the need for a second anaesthetic and period of recovery. Mr Khoda is well-practiced at the art of balancing two separate or related surgeries, and will help you thoroughly prepare for your healing and recovery.

To understand the popularity of treatment combinations, you need only consider the highly sought-after Mummy Makeover procedure that Mr Khoda performs week-in and week-out. A Mummy Makeover offers women whose bodies carry the marks of wear after pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding a selection of two procedures to reclaim control of their figures.

Treatment Combinations

There’s no template for what a patient can choose, but common combinations include thigh and arm lifts (to remove excess skin and fat from the inside of the thighs and backs of the arms, typically after massive weight loss), breast augmentation and liposuction (to reduce pockets of fat while reshaping and enhancing the breasts), and breast augmentation and labiaplasty (to improve the appearance of the labia and breasts at the same time).

A Mummy Makeover is for women who want to reclaim control of their bodies after the rigours of pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding. Pregnancy can result in damage to the ‘6-pack’ muscles in the abdomen, along with stretch marks, which can be corrected by a tummy tuck. Childbirth can result in tearing or deformation of the labia, which can be remedied by a labiaplasty. Breastfeeding can leave a woman with droopy, sagging breasts, which can be addressed through a breast uplift, possibly with implants. A Mummy Makeover allows a female patient to choose the two procedures she feels she most wants, to help restore and enhance her figure. Mummy Makeovers are priced to ensure the cost of two procedures is reduced when booked as a combined treatment.

It won’t. Your body is able to heal from two surgeries at once, and as such the recovery time you experience is the same as the recovery time for the more invasive of the two procedures. It doesn’t take as long to recover from liposuction as a breast augmentation, for example, so if those two treatments were combined, your downtime is exactly as it would be for breast augmentation, which is around 6 weeks before full physical activity can be resumed.

This depends on the surgeries chosen. Mr Khoda will ensure you are fully informed of all the necessary preparations you should make prior to surgery.

All surgeries can lead to complications, but Mr Khoda works in a safe and consistent manner to minimise any risks. He uses the non-touch technique, avoiding skin contact with any part of the wound or any substance or surface that will come into contact with the wound, such as the inner surface of dressings. The most common complications with surgery are bleeding, haematomas, infection, numbness, alteration in nipple sensation, and the need to return to theatre for further procedures. Surgery also presents a risk of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.
